Eddie Harris was a Chicago-born tenor saxophonist known for his accessible, often funky approach to jazz. Cool Sax From Hollywood To Broadway, released in 1965 on Columbia, is a straightforward mainstream jazz session featuring Harris working through a collection of popular show tunes and film themes. The playing is clean and melodic, sitting comfortably in the cool jazz and hard bop territory Harris occupied in his early career before his later soul-jazz experiments.
