Tous dans lmme bateau is the 1976 debut album by CANO (Cooprative des Artistes du NouvelOntario), a collective of FrancoOntarian musicians whose work blended folk, rock, classical, and progressive influences. Recorded during the height of the Canadian cultural renaissance of the 1970s, the album reflects the groups roots in Sudburys Thtre du NouvelOntario and the broader movement to preserve and promote Frenchlanguage culture outside Quebec.
The material is built around compositions by Andr Paiement, Marcel Aymar, Rachel Paiement, and other members of the collective. The arrangements incorporate acoustic and electric guitars, violin, flute, harmonies, and extended instrumental passages. Tracks such as En plein hiver and Baie SteMarie highlight the groups ability to merge traditional folk themes with progressive structures, while pieces like Les rues dOttawa and Dimanche aprsmidi reflect the lyrical storytelling central to CANOs identity.
Produced by Luc Cousineau with assistance from Jon Red Mitchell, the album was released exclusively in Canada on A&M and became a foundational recording in FrancoOntarian music. It remains one of the most significant Canadian folkrock releases of the 1970s.
