This is a Picture Vinyl LP pressing of Blues For Allah, celebrating the album’s 50th Anniversary with a newly remastered version by GRAMMY Award-winning engineer David Glasser. Released in 1975 after a self-imposed hiatus, the album surprised fans by becoming one of The Grateful Dead’s most musically successful and resolutely experimental works, entirely conceived and recorded without pre-written material at Bobby Weirs home studio. The intimate and exploratory sessionswhere Robert Hunter wrote lyrics on the spotresulted in a deeply humane parable that framed their own artistic renewal. The album features key tracks like the spacey “The Music Never Stopped,” the smoky ambiguity of “Crazy Fingers,” and a title suite that bordered on “acid-jazz composition,” all woven together by Mickey Harts central percussion work and the spacious texture provided by Keith Godchaux’s keys.
