Beastie Boys return to their punk roots with Aglio e Olio, originally released in 1995 on Grand Royal as a compact hardcore punk EP. The 2022 Capitol reissue, UPC 602435921228, restores the eight tracks and adds two bonus cuts, Soba Violence and Light My Fire featuring Miho Hatori. The sessions feature Amery AWOL Smith on drums, underscoring the group’s gritty, fast-paced approach. This brisk, under-12-minute set captures the Beastie Boys’ bold experimentation at the boundary of punk and hip-hop.
