“The Smiths” is the eponymous debut studio album by the English rock band The Smiths. Released on February 20, 1984, the album marked the beginning of The Smiths’ career and is considered a seminal work in the indie and alternative rock genres. The band consisted of vocalist Morrissey, guitarist Johnny Marr, bassist Andy Rourke, and drummer Mike Joyce.
