Here’s a release that brings together two titans of the electric blues across generations. “In Session” captures the legendary Albert King, the “Velvet Bulldozer” himself, trading licks with a young Stevie Ray Vaughan at the height of his powers. Originally recorded for Canadian television in 1983, this collaboration represents a passing of the torch between the master of the Flying V and his most devoted disciple. Albert King’s influence on SRV was profound you can hear it in every bent string and sustained note throughout Stevie’s career making this face-to-face meeting all the more significant.
